To Be There

I am dreaming, am I not?

I’ll reach out with open arms

And you’ll bring me close

With care and tranquility on your mind.

At times it seems as though

People want more

Than their lovers can ever give,

But believe me now

That there is nothing I need from you.

Nothing you need from me

Aside from knowing

we’ll be there for each other

And that what we feel

Can be returned.

Please let me say

That no matter how intensely

One can feel bound to another,

It brings peace to know

That what we share can be simple,

Gentle,

Beautiful,

Accepting,

Genuine.
